MEDIA RELEASE: The Future2 Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA), has opened registrations for its 2022 Six Foot Track Challenge.
The 35 kilometre hike challenge through Katoomba and the Blue Mountains is being held to raise funds for the Future2 Make the Difference! grants program. It will take place over two days, from the 20 to 21 of November.
Future2 chair Julie Berry said the six foot track challenge provides a great opportunity to undertake a fun challenge with colleagues and friends while supporting The Future2 ‘Make the Difference!’ grants program which provides grants to charities and organisations that work with disadvantaged young Australians.
“Over two days, you’ll experience an exciting trek through nature, crossing the Coxs River through the spectacular Bowtells Swing Bridge and then will spend a relaxing evening and comfortable night at the fully equipped Six Foot Track Eco-lodge,” says Berry.
The Future2 Foundation acknowledges the support of our Six Foot Track Challenge partners Iress, KeyInvest, Magellan Group and Pickles in helping disadvantaged young Australians reach their full potential.
Future2 supports young Australians aged 12 to 25 years experiencing social, financial or physical hardship. Financial planners from across Australia contribute to Future2 through donations, getting involved in fundraising activities and by nominating organisations for the annual Future2 Make the Difference! grants program. Every contribution helps ensure young people around Australia lead productive, secure and happy lives.
This move follows the opening of applications for the 2022 grants program, which closes 5pm on Friday 30 September 2022. Successful applications will be announced in November 2022.
The fundraising target for each participant is $1000. Registration is $200, in addition to a travel cost of $695. The travel cost includes transport to and from the Blue Mountains, a fully supported two day trek of the historic Six Foot Track route, all meals and refreshments, and one night’s accommodation at the Six Foot Track Eco Lodge on the Coxs River.
